Today's recap

Today we spent the morning down around the pool. The kids swam a lot. DH studied by the pool. It was still a little cold so it took me a while to get in. I just enjoyed taking a slow morning, reading my Bible around the pool, and challenging #4 son to a lap competition.....see who could get the most laps in by the end of the week.

Then we went to lunch with my in-laws. We chuckled at the choice of restaurants because on the way down here we were laughing about how it seems that the degree of one's love for smorgasbord-style restaurants is directly proportionate to one's advancing age. Guess where we went? Actually it was very good and reasonable as well. While we were in line I turned around because my 6'4" husband kept getting knocked into me. I turned to see that behind him was a height-challenged, senior citizen of the female variety (politically correct term for a little old lady). She was literally shoving him out of the way to get her spoon in a dish of food. It was hilarious. In another setting, I'm not so sure someone wouldn't have pushed her face into the bowl of potatoes. She was a piece of work. We about died laughing.

After that we went back to said in-laws' condo and watched The Masters since all the guys golf. We got back here fairly late and stopped in Micky Dee's before turning in. My husband ordered a couple of apple pies for dessert, walked to get a coffee at Starbucks, settled down on the couch to enjoy. What he pulled out of those boxes didn't resemble anything like I've ever gotten at Mcdonalds. It looked like someone had siphoned off all the filling with a straw. All that was left was a deflated, lukewarm leathery pastry. Yeah, I know those pies are only 50 cents apiece but it's the principle of the thing.

Well nothing too exciting to write about today but I'm enjoying sitting on my keister all week. No meals to make, no cleaning, no wash to do, no schedule to stick to, and no phone to answer. I think I feel inspired. Tomorrow....Ode to a Vacation! Lucky you!
