Ode to a Vacation

Late-night driving, lousy food
Construction zones galore
Triptiks, maps, and mileage charts
& Backpacks on the floor

Hotel beds and swimming pools
breakfast bars and tea
refrigerator, microwave, and
NOTHING on TV

I'm glad we're out----away from home
to this grand vacation
to relax and read and play and pray
....enjoy some conversation.

No meals to fix or house to clean
No scheduled anything
The weightiest decision of the day
"McDonalds or Burger King?"

Catching up with Mom & Dad
Great times at the ocean
LOsing glasses in the surf
Gallons of suntan lotion

Carrie and David having a ball
Memories they'll now treasure
Laughing, swimming, playing games...
watching them's a pleasure.

Hearing from the guys at home
Makes me happy too.
KNowing they've grown to great young men
And care about us too.

When everything dries from last night's rain
We're heading for the shore!
To soak up some rays and leave behind stress
To mill around & explore.

The end of vacation comes too quick
A thought I can't bear to ponder
Praise God for wonderful breaks like this,
That make me, of home, grow fonder. :-)
